. i own a deli, on california street for the last 35 years. and i have never had to work harder or longer hours to maintain my position and care for my family and be able to pay my rent on time. and last time it was that we fought two trucks and now it is for espresso. i open 5:00 in the morning and my coffee hours are the same as his proposed hours. i sell coffee for basically 4 hours also from 6 to 10 and a switch over to lunch and catering to be able to survive in the high rent district. i cannot be that i can compete with starbucks or peats. there is a peats across the street and a starbucks down the street and around the corner from me. but my position as well as most of our colleagues position is that we are small operators. we work hard. 35 years of survival having four land lords in the same location, having excuse me, up to them to maintain the rent structure to be able to stay there. we had to sell coffee, we have to sell muffins and catering and all of them, the trucks, espresso specialized different foods are taking away every day from nickel and dime from all of us

, california spends about eight times as much money for every inmate as it does for every student in the university of california system. and so you could reorganize those resources and put they will more towards supervision and other types of things and manage a lot of those individuals that are currently incarcerated in a much more effective way that is going to save you tax dollars but also reduce the chance that they'll continue to spiral into those, like the stories we heard earlier today. .s. supreme court and they could decide today whether they will hear california's proposition 8 case. the court will be releasing its latest of a posting on -630 this morning. california voted prop 8 was unconstitutional. we will see if the justices reviewed the case. they met on friday behind closed doors to see which cases would be heard. if they decide they're not going to get a same-sex marriage case the ruling here in california will stand. same- sex marriages could resume this week. if they decide to hear the case of than same- sex marriages will be on hold until the court makes its decision. this is one of 10 same-sex marriage cases in front of the supreme court right now. most of the others involve the federal law. we will see what the supreme court decides in less than 30 minutes. >> fiscal cliff tops standof the average middle-class family would have to pay about $2,000 a year more in taxes. house speaker john bain of lands the stalemate on the obama administration. he says they are not taking republicans seriously and plans to close loopholes and lit it deductions without
